On November tenth the club held it’s second series of workshops with Marco Invenizzi. The two four-hour workshops beginning at noon attracted several members who brought in trees to work on with Marco for a fee. Additionally other members arrived during the day to observe and learn.
Marco’s approach is to work with students to design the best look for your tree and then to execute the design with his assistance. A variety of trees were brought in by members ranging from untouched collected trees to others which had been trained in pots for many years and were in need of a makeover.
Marco is adamant that wiring be done properly with proper anchoring and he helped may of those attending
to get it right. He also has a special talent for creating dead wood, his teacher being Kimura who is renowned for his jin and shari creation. Many of us brought in trees which are appropriate for this type of treatment and Marco assisted us in creating natural looking deadwood features. He insists that no tool
tracks should be seen on the tree that the dead wood have a natural cause appearance.
For many of those attending this was a very good intermediate to advanced workshop session. There were many interesting trees being worked on. It is exciting to see so much good material and interest in our club and I look forward to future shows where some of these creations should gather much interest.
