by Eric Schrader | Dec 28th, 05Rain Rain Go Away…

Rainy YardI’m stuck sitting inside gazing out at my trees instead of going out there to enjoy the fresh air and winter silhouettes. And…I’m worried about all this rain causing root rot on some of my less healthy trees. I tilted a couple of pots up so the bottom is sloped, but with all this rain I’m not sure that it will be enough. And as I sit here typing, the sun is peaking through for a moment. Storm breaks bring beautiful lighting sometimes.Last night was bad. Not only was I kept up all night by the rain lashing against my windows, I was thinking that I should have tied all my trees down to the benches. What a storm. Luckily I had the foresight to tie down my tall oak tree and thus only one of my trees was blown over, a bunjin juniper; it didn’t fall far, and suffered no damage due to the fact that it landed on a thoroughly wired branch.
