Desolation Wilderness 3I have been going to the gym all winter in preparation for the coming hiking season. In the past I have managed to go on a few short hiking trips each spring or summer. These serve as inspiration for bonsai styling since I try to go places where I think that I will encounter high mountian trees or other interesting specimens.

Desolation Wilderness 2If anyone from the club is interested in going please let me know. I would love to bounce destination ideas off people and I think it would be fun to have a group of more than two people on a hike. I plan to make the hiking portion (and sometimes scrambling) somewhat strenuous…because it allows one to see more wild trees per day. Long day hikes or two-three day overnights are all that I usually like to undertake.
