May 22nd: May 22 & 23, 2010 - Bonsai Society of San Francisco 50th Anniversary Celebration and Show at the County Fair Building. The Bonsai Society of San Francisco will be holding their 50th anniversary celebration at the County Fair Building on Saturday, May 22 from 5PM-10PM. May 18th: For the May 18th meeting, Marin Bonsai Club welcomes back one of their favorite teachers, Ted Matson. Well loved and greatly respected by all who know him, Ted brings a long history in bonsai and a wealth of knowledge he is eager to share. The recent past president of the Golden State Bonsai Federation has been active in bonsai since 1979. May 2nd: In the autumn of 1959 there was a notice in the San Francisco Chronicle asking that those interested in forming a bonsai club come to the Hall of Flowers at such and such time on a certain day. The first meeting of the new club was held in January of 1960. Officers were elected a meeting was set up for the second Thursday of February. A small show was put on in the fall at The Flower Show. This was a group of 20 some flower clubs that showed their exhibits in August each year...  read more »
