Geezer Squad
Let me start out by explaining where the “Geezer Squad” name came from. I had brought up the subject of getting a team of people together to help some of our older members take care of their bonsai to the board a few months ago, someone mentioned that John Boyce had the same idea years ago and why don’t I talk to him about it. Well, I did catch up with him at the Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt and he loved the idea. I asked him how he would feel if I addressed this notice “ To Our Golden Members” he said just call it “The Geezer Squad”? And so that is how the name came to be.

So let me tell you what the squad is designed to do. We are here to help you. We will come and help you lift, carry push and pull your bonsai trees. We will help you in anyway we can get them ready to be shown at the 50th Anniversary Show or the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show. We will also come and transport your trees to and from the shows. The squad is made up of a few newer members who will be under the direction of one or two of or more senior knowledgeable members. We want the 50th Anniversary Show to be a big success and we want our golden members to be a big part of the celebration.

If you are interested in having us come and help, please let me know as soon as you can. We have plenty of time, but this is going to take quite a bit of coordinating to get everyone in the same place at the same time. I am hoping to make this a squad a regular service for all our club members who need help.
