Preview of 2017 BSSF Benefit Auction Trees

Dear Members,

For only the second time in more than 15 years BSSF is planning to put on an independent bonsai show in 2018. As mentioned at last month’s meeting, the logistics of “taking off the training wheels” and producing our own show requires a fair amount of planning.

In order to do a first rate show we are aiming for a fall 2018 show date. Subject to availability from SF Rec and Park, we are currently thinking of the weekend of November 3-4th, 2018. The tentative plans include a Friday night opening and an all-day Saturday show with set-up Friday afternoon and tear down Saturday night.

With the movement to our own show there is a great deal of initial expense that the club will incur (table coverings backdrops, hardware etc.) To prepare for this the board has decided that a portion of the proceeds from the September auction will be allocated to the show budget.

The Auction

The auction is open to everyone!

To make the 2018 show happen we are looking to make this year’s annual auction an even more special event than usual!

Senior club members are planning to include some high-quality established bonsai trees in the auction. We are asking youto do the same – donate today! (no need to wait for September!) Please consider donating fine pots, scrolls, suiseki and other bonsai related items. We can also include some items of general interest like wine, etc.

It will be an exciting auction, so please bring extra refreshments and/or drinks to share.

Feel free to email a picture/description of your donation, the estimated market value, and any specific details you would like included to Christian Werk, XnWerk[at-sign] We will contact you with further information and instructions. Donations are tax deductible and the club can provide a letter for your records.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you all at the auction!
