by John Edwards | Jan 24th, 10Lunar New Year Display

On Saturday, February 13 2010 BSSF will again participate in the Arboretum’s Celebration of the Lunar New Year. It is a colorful event with Chinese dog costumes , firecrackers and drum and dance performances. The theme of the event is early spring flowers with quince, forsythia branches and azelia for sale.
Our display is just for the enjoyment of visitors and we conduct no sales but promote our club and bonsai in the area generally. In the past several club members have volunteered to supply trees for a small one table display and on-going demos of bonsai styling. Japanese quince, forsythia, cotoneaster or any flowering bonsai can be shown. We would like at least two people to be on hand during this time. Better to have 4 and you can split the time. This is a good opportunity for newer members to see how a display is set and to interact with the public. Give me a call or send an email if you would like to participate during the event or have a tree to show. Attached is a photo from a past display.
