May is here! That means the time to prepare for our 50th Anniversary Party, Show, and Sale is running out.
Your BSSF leadership has been working long hours preparing for the show. We have compiled invitation lists, detailed schedules, and diagrams of the show. On the morning of May 22, all of it will come together. We need EVERYONE to participate and work like a well-oiled machine for us to make this a successful weekend.
Three things to do!
#1 Volunteer! At our May meeting, we won’t be passing around sign up lists for volunteers. Instead, we will be TAPPING on your shoulder to assign you to show duties. Please be ready to step up. We have several crews: security, sales, food service, setup, & checkin.
#2 SALES! This is your chance to sale off some bonsai material. Yep, you’ve got a patio/yard full of plants you can’t give your full attention. Time to sell off a few. Save the money and buy better material! Remember to dress up your sales material. Clean those pots, remove weeds, make ‘em look nice! Also, no fresh repots. Only healthy material will be accepted. Pick up your sales paperwork early and come to the sales area with it competed if possible.
#3 DISPLAY! Prepare your trees! Yes, I’m talking to you newbies. If you’ve never shown a tree, prepare your best one and bring it. Make an appearance at the 3rd Thursday workshop for a touchup. We’re expecting bonsai elite from all over the Bay Area for our party and show. For our old-timers, pick out your best trees for this show. We’re are especially looking for trees with BSSF history. Time to show off our best stuff. At our meeting and in this newsletter, there is a form with information needed for your display trees. Please! take the time to fill it out and submit it to Joe Nersveen at the provided email or by phone.
If can’t make it to one of our meetings before the show, contact me at (415)200-8967 to volunteer or let me know about a tree you want to display.
Please RSVP for the dinner. We want to prepare the correct amount of food for our guests. We have three ways to RSVP. 1) email at rsvp@bssf.org 2) call our answering machine at (415) 621-0935 3) or let me know in person at our next meeting.
Thanks to everyone for stepping up and helping out with this big event.
