by John Edwards | Feb 3rd, 07Collection North urgent need for docent volunteers

We really need more help from Bay Area bonsai club
members to keep the GSBF Garden open. People are needed for
all the duties there, of course, but I’m most concerned
about the docent situation. Last month Hollis and I worked
as docents one Saturday afternoon and the last three
Sundays because no one else signed up. And we will fill the
shift tomorrow afternoon also.

So please make an impassioned plea to your club members
for February and March. Maybe ask for a once-a-year
commitment from them. We really need someone for Saturday
afternoon, 2/24 and both of the shifts on Sunday, 2/25.
That is the weekend of the Garden Fundraiser, so docents
could work at the Garden and then wander over to the Garden
Center and take in the Fundraiser events.

March is wide open. We have no docents for any Sunday and
no one for Sat. afternoons, 3/2, 3/9, 3/24, 3/31. That’s
eight desperate days in March. I don’t mean YOU should sign
up; but please try to stir up more interest among your
fellow club members. Maybe even make a personal approach to
someone you know has helped as a docent once before.

Thanks for any help you can give the Garden. Kay
