by John Edwards | Oct 27th, 09BSSF returns to Golden Gate Park with first FREE bonsai show in San Francisco since 1996
For the first time since 1998 Bonsai Society of San Francisco will be sponsoring our own show. What does this mean and how is this different from the other displays we have done? It means we can all be together during the hours of the show, no limits on the number of members who can be in attendance at any time. It means we can have a FREE bonsai display, sales area, demonstration stage and hospitality suite for our guests. The occasion for this is to mark the 50th Anniversary of BSSF. And to pay tribute to our collective talents and the legacy of those who preceeded our current membership. This is our gift to ourselves and for all of our friends and the general public to share our joy and good works. Mark your calendars for May 21-23 and plan to spend that weekend with your fellow BSSF members and friends.
In the mean time we are forming a Show Committee of volunteers to help plan, promote and put on a Real club show. To all BSSF members; Now is the Time to Stand up and be counted.
John Edwards and Debra Bleemer have agreed to co-chair and coordinate the planning. We need volunteers to plan promotions, plan the display and other activities, schedule security details, and sales people. The club today has many creative and energetic people and we need everyone to participate and cooperate. Please step up and communicate with John and Debra about how you can be a part of this collective effort. The work begins now in order to be ready by May. We will be looking for commitment from all of you beginning at our next meeting. Open your hearts and minds and get behind this effort. You and all of us will be glad you did.
